If a budget permits, we recommend hiring a professional photographer, who is experienced in weddings. This way you can almost guarantee that your shots will come out looking stunning, without having to worry that your friend will do a good job.
If budget does not permit, remember to not pressure your friend who it ultimately doing you a favor. The more at ease and relaxed the photographer is, the higher the guarantee that the shots will look great.
Research various photographers online. Most will have up to date portfolios of recent weddings. You can then gather there photographic style. Are you looking for traditional posed shots or more natural candid photos?
