Traditionally, guests gave wedding gifts to couples to assist them in starting out financially. However today, with a lot of couples already living together before marriage, most traditional gifts are not necessary.

Couples are now beginning to have bridal registries at certain stores, which has a list of gifts the couple has picked out and would like their guests to buy for them. If a couple has set up a bridal registry, there is no rule that states you must buy from that store. If you wish to purchase another gift on a more personal level, this is acceptable.

The advantage of having a bridal registry, is that the store holding the registry keeps track of the purchases made, ensuring that the couple does not receive two or more of the same gift.

Depending on what gifts the couple would like to receive, will reflect where you will set up your registry. The easiest option is to set up a registry at a department store. This way you can provide a wide range of gift requests, ranging from manchester to sporting goods. Registering at a department store also saves you organizing more than one register, which can be quite time consuming.
